What types of apparel can Cavela manufacture?

The full range — cut-and-sew basics (tees, tanks, hoodies), knitwear and fleece, denim and heavyweight wovens, activewear and performance apparel, workwear and FR-certified garments, outerwear, and technical pieces requiring specialized fabrics or construction. If it's a garment and it's not beauty, food, or electronics, there's almost certainly a factory in our network that specializes in it. The first thing we do is confirm we have the right fit for your specific product before anything else moves forward.

How long does it take to get an apparel sample?

Initial samples for most cut-and-sew apparel take two to three weeks from spec confirmation. More complex pieces — outerwear with linings and hardware, technical garments with performance fabric requirements, or anything with custom trims — can take longer and often need an additional revision round. We manage the sampling process directly with the factory, so you're reviewing finished samples rather than translating feedback across a language gap yourself.

Can Cavela help with fabric sourcing for my apparel line?

Yes, and for most garments we handle it as part of the production run rather than as a separate step. Factories in our network can source fabrics directly — whether that's standard cotton-poly blends, performance knits, or specialty materials like FR-certified textiles or technical wovens — often at better pricing than sourcing independently. If you have an existing fabric supplier you want to use, we can match you with factories that will work with your specified material.

What's the minimum order quantity for an apparel production run?

It depends on the garment type, fabric, and construction complexity. Basic cut-and-sew pieces in standard fabrics typically carry lower minimums than technical garments, custom knitwear, or anything requiring specialty fabric sourcing. We confirm realistic MOQs for your specific design before you commit to a factory, rather than quoting a blanket number that may not reflect what your product actually requires.

Do I need a tech pack to get started?

No, but having one speeds things up. We can work from reference garments, photos, measurements, and a clear description of fit and fabric goals. That said, the more specific you can be upfront — construction details, fabric weight preferences, trim specs — the fewer revision rounds your sample will typically need. If you're starting from scratch, we can help you build out the spec as part of the quoting process.

We're already working with a factory. Can Cavela help us switch?

Yes, this is one of the most common reasons brands come to us. We review your existing specs, sample history, and the specific issues with your current supplier — whether that's quality inconsistency, communication problems, cost, or lead times — then match you with a better-fit factory and manage the transition including new sampling.
